ABSTRACT

Objective To evaluate the diagnostic value of quantitative tissue velocity imaging ( QTVI ) in the detection of right ventricle function in a rabbit model of pulmonary artery embolism .Methods Twenty-two healthy adult rabbits were used in this study .The animal models of acute pulmonary embolism were created by injecting gelatin sponge into the ear vein of rabbits .The changes of right ventricle function were dynamically observed at immediately , 1 week, and 3 weeks after the establishment of acute pulmonary embolims models .QTVI images of the 4-chamber view at cardiac apex were recorded and analyzed by off-line analysis. Results The VP was significantly reduced immediately after the models were built compared with the data before modeling in both the basal and middle segments , the TQ-S was prolonged , and Ve/Va>1 (P<0.05).The VP at1 week after modeling was not significantly decreased than the data before modeling in both the basal and middle segments , and the TQ-S was prolonged, but the Ve/Va ratio was <1 (P<0.05).At 3 weeks after modeling, the VPwas decreased compared with the data before modeling , and the Ve/Va ratio was <1 (P<0.05). The intra-group comparison showed that the V P of the basal segment of right ventricle free wall was enhanced than that of the middle segment (P<0.05), butTQ-S was not obviously prolonged in both the two segments .Conclusions Quantitative tissue velocity imaging can reflect the contraction and relaxation of right ventricle in rabbits precisely .It is a good method to evaluate the function of right ventricle in animal models of pulmonary artery embolism.

ABSTRACT

Nasal supernumerary teeth and additional dental cyst is a common disease in Department of ENT and Department of Stomatology. In reported diseases, patients with a variety of additional teeth appeared in differ ent parts have varied clinical manifestations. Because of no obvious early symptoms, it is more difficult to diagnose, but CT examination in corresponding site can make it easy to diagnose the maxillary sinus and dentigerous cyst diagnosis. Operation is an effective method to cure the disease. Operation is simple, but the defect and tooth cavity after operation is one unavoidable problem for ENT doctor. In relevant literature it can be seen that the disease has a genetic tendency.

ABSTRACT

Objective To assess the value of echo tracking(ET) technique on atherosclerosis in the rabbit models, and to probe the pathological foundation of its indexes changes and the usefulness in evaluating arterial elasticity. Methods Thirty New Zealand rabbits were divided into 3 groups randomly: group A was the control group;group B,C were fed with high lipid feedstuffs for 8 weeks and 12 weeks, respectively. The ET examination of abdominal aorta was performed in group A and group B at the end of 8 weeks,it was performed in group A and group C at the end of 12 weeks. The parameters of elasticity were measured including pressure-strain elastic modulus (Ep), stiffness parameters(β), pulse wave velocity (PWVβ), augmentation index (AI), arterial compliance (AC), etc. Two dimensional ultrasound and pathological examination of abdominal aorta were performed at the same time. Results No obvious plaque and arterial wall thickness were seen in the abdominal aorta. Ep,β,PWVβ of group C were higher than that of group A and B, while AC of group C was lower than that of group A and B, and the difference had statistical significance (P<0.05). AI had no significant difference in all groups (P>0.05). Pathological examinations indicated that foam cell formation was seen in the abdominal aorta intima, the elastic fiber layer and smooth muscle layer were kept well in B group. Lots of cholesterol crystal formation was seen in the abdominal aorta intima and the two layer were obvious destroyed in group C. Conclusions ET can detect the atherosclerosis earlier than two-dimensional ultrasound. ET can detect the elasticity changes only when the elastic fiber layer and smooth muscle layer were destroyed . So it can be concluded that the destroy of elastic fiber layer and smooth muscle layer may be the pathological foundation of ET elasticity parameters changes.
